HUD USER News

December 1st, 2010

HUD announced the launch of their Regional and Economic Market Analysis page in the November 23, 2010 edition of HUD USER News.

New One-Stop Web Resource for Economic and Housing Data

HUD has unveiled a new interactive website that consolidates a wide variety of economic and housing market data at the regional, state, metropolitan area, and county levels. Using data from the Census Bureau, Labor Department, state and local governments, housing industry sources, and research conducted by HUD's own field economists, the new Regional and Economic Market Analysis pages on www.huduser.org employ interactive maps that allow visitors to access a variety of reports — from a region-wide look at employment and housing activity to individual county-level figures on population trends, rental activity, and vacancy rates.

This new HUD User online resource displays an interactive map of the U.S., giving visitors an intuitive means of obtaining data specific to a wide range of geographic areas — from an entire region down to a particular county. Visitors to the new Regional and Economic Market Analysis pages will find...

  • "Market at a Glance" reports containing economic and housing market data trends for every metropolitan area and county in the nation;
  • "Regional Housing Market Profiles" (based on the quarterly U.S. Housing Market Conditions report) that include nonfarm employment, population changes, and building activity;
  •  "Regional Narratives" that offer broad overviews of economic and housing market trends within 10 regions of the U.S; and
  • "Comprehensive Housing Market Analysis" reports that focus on particular metropolitan housing markets to produce counts and estimates of employment, population, households, and housing inventory.

To view the reports mentioned above for a region of the country, or for particular states, metropolitan areas, or even counties, visit HUD's Regional Economic and Market Analysis page.
