HUD Mailers

HUD mailers are another great option in determining a property’s occupancy status.  If a borrower is delinquent and unable to be reached, a HUD Occupancy Mailer is sent to the property address in an effort to make contact.  In accordance with HUD guidelines, Safeguard sends these post cards when the initial inspection order is placed, to attempt to confirm occupancy before the visual inspection is completed.

The mailer requests that the borrower call a toll free number to confirm the property in question is occupied.  The toll free number will connect the borrower with a Safeguard call center, which was established specifically for HUD mailer contacts. Once contact with the borrower through the call center is achieved, the inspection order is cancelled.   This process continues until the property is determined to be vacant.  Safeguard incurs all of the direct expense with respect to the printing and mailing of the postcards and maintaining the toll free phone line.
