REO FAQs
Q: I am a servicer of REO assets and I am interested in your preservation services. How do I contact Safeguard for more information about becoming a client?
A: Thank you in advance for your interest in Safeguard! Please contact us at your convenience, and our Marketing team will follow up with you. We are eager to show you what we can do for you and your properties. We appreciate the opportunity to discuss in more detail our ability to safeguard your interests.
Q: Does Safeguard complete evictions?
A: Yes. We have a separate network of contractors who are experienced in this area. Please click here for more information on our evictions services, and feel free to contact us if you are interested in this service.
Q: I am a broker/listing agent and I have properties that Safeguard is maintaining. How do I contact the REO department if I have questions, new orders, or concerns?
A: Safeguard established the Broker Direct team just for brokers and listing agents. A subdivision of our REO Customer Service unit, the Broker Direct team focuses exclusively on the brokers' and listing agents' needs. Please contact Broker Direct at 877-340-5909 or at brokerdirect@safeguardproperties.com. Our hours of operation are:
Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 AM ET
Saturdays and Sundays: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM ET
In addition, we have a cell phone that is carried by members of the management staff starting at 4:00 PM on the weekends, to cover emergency situations that may arise after hours. By calling the same number as listed above, your call will automatically be routed to the cell phone.
Q: I am a broker/listing agent and I cannot access my properties in your system. How do I get this corrected?
A: Please contact Broker Direct at 877-340-5909 or at brokerdirect@safeguardproperties.com for assistance. If the Broker Direct team is unable to correct the issue, they will refer you to our IT department.
Q: I am a broker/listing agent and I have properties in need of lawn care or snow removal. How do I set up my listings for routine maintenance?
A: Please contact Broker Direct at 877-340-5909 or at brokerdirect@safeguardproperties.com for assistance, as our instructions may vary slightly by individual client. A member of Broker Direct will be able to answer more specifically.
Q: I am a broker/listing agent with properties that Safeguard is not currently maintaining. Can I sign up for your preservation services?
A: Unfortunately, at this time Safeguard is not set up for accounts with individual agents. Our contracts must be with the banks and lending institutions directly. If you are familiar with our services through other clients of yours, and you would like to have us contact a client who is not currently using Safeguard, please feel free to contact our Marketing Department. We appreciate all referrals for potential new business.
Q: How do I become an REO contractor?
A: Safeguard has a comprehensive screening and interview process for all new vendors, which begins with the online application. Once the application is completed and submitted, Safeguard's Vendor Management Recruiters will review it to determine whether we have a need in that area, and whether the applicant meets our criteria. If the answers to both questions are "yes," a recruiter will contact the applicant for a phone interview. Additional steps in the process will be discussed at that time. Please note that due to the volume of requests we receive on a weekly basis, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to contact every applicant.
Q. How does Safeguard determine if I am in an area in which they have a coverage need?
A. Safeguard has specific zones in which they are looking for vendors. Based on where your field office address is, Safeguard assigns a corresponding zone number.
Q. What will happen if there is no need in the zone in which I am located?
A. If there is no need in the zone, your application will remain on file in the event there is a future need.
Q. Do I need to be insured to work with Safeguard Properties?
A. Yes. Full General Liability and Errors and Omissions coverage is required to perform work with Safeguard Properties.
