The following Alert contains information Safeguard has received regarding potential demolition of properties in the Baltimore MD area. Below are reports from two of our local inspectors 1) There is a large area located in Baltimore. Md (zip code 21205) which has been publicized to be demolished in the near future. This area is being possessed by Johns Hopkins Hospital and room is being made for a Biotech community. Currently Johns Hopkins is attempting to work out buy-outs with owners of properties located there. This area has severally declined and consists of as many vacant properties as it does occupied ones. 2) It's my understanding that they will demolish and build additions to the hospital. Properties along Broadway Street they rehab for patient family overnight/longterm stay.Past experience has been buy out, demolish, build new. Many of the homes in the area are already boarded up waiting for the remaining owners to default, accept buy out or go up for tax sale. Construction is now in progress at the corners of E. Madison & Broadway. To name a few streets they are acquiring properties on are,800 block of McDonogh St,Rutland Ave, and N. Durham Street. Their acquisition area consists of many blocks surrounding the Hospital. By clicking on the link http://sdatcert3.resiusa.org/rp_rewrite/ and following the listed steps you will be able to see a number of properties already purchased by John Hopkins.
