SPI's 17th Year Of Serving The Industry
Sunday, 20 May 2007

Memo From: Robert Klein, CEO
To: Safeguard Staff, Contractors, and Friends

Safeguard has now entered its 17th year of providing field services to the mortgage industry.  The vision for our company was the creation of a customer centric organization focused on ensuring client satisfaction through business partnership.  We continue to strive for flexibility and efficiency; both in quality of our service delivery and the dissemination of timely, relevant, and accurate information.  As we move forward, we will continue our undying commitment to exemplary customer service and providing our clients with Industry leadership framed by those initiatives that are in our clients’ best interest.

Safeguard has had some notable accomplishments over the past year.  We have proactively worked with the Investors as an advocate for the clients that we serve, creating workable strategies designed to ensure operational efficiency.  Importantly, Safeguard worked in collaboration with our clients and HUD to provide “ground level” expertise in their guideline revision efforts.  The efforts paid off with the issuing of HUD ML 07-03 which included a number of Safeguard “sponsored” best practices.  We have also successfully opened a dialogue and continue discussions with the VA, FNMA FHLMC and other industry investors which we believe streamlined and better protects our clients collateral interest in vacant and abandoned properties.  In this regard, we would like to thank all of our clients and investors who actively participated in the Industry conference calls that framed our agenda.

Safeguard also continued to lead a collaborative industry initiative designed to assist our clients and local governments to improve communication for the purpose of combating blight in our nation’s neighborhoods.  Safeguard and our clients have proactively worked with city officials around the country to maintain the integrity of vacant properties.  This past year, we continued to see communication barriers eliminated, led the creation of a Vacant Blight Working group within the MBA, and initiated efforts to develop a cross industry conference and educational strategy designed to further address these important issues.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation to our clients, contractors/inspectors and the industry investors for partnering with us to provide thought leadership to the mortgage field servicing industry.

Sincerely,

Robert Klein
