Cuyahoga County Department of Development is providing one-time emergency assistance with mortgage payments on behalf of TANF-eligible homeowners entering into realistic workout plans to avoid mortgage foreclosure. Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) funds can only support households with a child 18 or younger in the home. Grant funds in the amounts of $2,500 to $3,000 will be available for eligible applicants. This first round of funds must be expended by June 30, 2007. The County rescue funds can be combined with the mortgage assistance funds currently administered by NHS. However, the borrowers would need to contact Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland (NHS) directly. Borrowers should review with Cuyahoga County Department of Development counselors this program along with other assistance available. For further information regarding the submission of the application please contact NHS at 216-458-4663.
