HUD Change a Light, Change the World Campaign
Monday, 01 October 2007

The "Change a Light, Change the World" campaign is being launched nationwide to promote energy conservation and awareness across the country.

Partnerships for Home Energy Efficiency, comprised of HUD, the EPA, and the Department of Energy, is beginning the annual "Energy Star Change a Light, Change the World" campaign on Oct. 3, 2007.

The Partnership has sent an invitation to every U.S. Governor, encouraging them to issue proclamations declaring October 3, 2007 as ENERGY STAR Change a Light Day

Americans are encouraged to do their part by replacing at least one bulb or fixture in their home with a bulb or fixture that has earned the Government’s ENERGY STAR label.  Individuals may get involved this year by pledging, as an easy but effective way to demonstrate commitment to promoting energy efficiency and conservation.  Individuals may pledge directly from the campaign website: http://www.energystar.gov/changealight

In addition, the Partnership is asking organizations to consider hosting an ENERGY STAR Change a Light Day event at the organization’s place of business on or near October 3, 2007 and to change at least one light bulb or fixture from an incandescent model to an ENERGY STAR qualified one, and to encourage members of your organization to do the same in their homes. Organizations may register as pledge drivers from the website www.energystar.gov/joincal
