Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Person of the Year
Thursday, 27 December 2007
Robert Klein, founder and chief executive officer of Safeguard Properties, was honored as Outstanding Person of the Year by the Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Klein was selected as the 2007 recipient for the award based on his commitment to the Cuyahoga Valley region through economic growth, as well as community service.

Headquartered in Brooklyn Heights, Safeguard has grown into a 450-employee company over the course of 17 years, with a network of contractors throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Safeguard is a turn-key resource for all aspects of property management. Through continuous training of staff and contractors, Safeguard ensures that work performed meets all applicable guidelines, on time and under budget. Its services include property preservation, property inspections, valuation, hazard claim services, insurance loss inspections, title services and asset management.

In addition to his duties as Safeguard CEO, Klein represents various national industry organizations as a session leader and panelist at their annual conferences. He is also the primary sponsor of the National Property Preservation Conference in Washington, D.C.

Klein's role as a industry leader was never more important than during the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. He initiated a series of eight industry Hurricane Disaster Conference Calls that included more than 300 participants. These conference calls were crucial to the creation of industry consensus in handling issues created in wake of the disasters.

Safeguard, as a company, regularly contributes to many charitable causes, including the Brooklyn Heights annual food drive, the American Heart Fund, the Cancer Fund and many others.

The company, under Klein's leadership, also emphasizes corporate giving and volunteerism and has been active in various Habitat for Humanity projects. Its employees have taken a leading role in projects such as Race for the Cure, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots and the Animal Protection League.
