COUNTY RECOGNIZES SAFEGUARD PROPERTIES
FOR HELPING TO COMBAT FORECLOSURES
CLEVELAND, OH – Safeguard Properties, the nation’s largest privately held mortgage field services
company, based in Cleveland, and its CEO Robert Klein, were recognized at a special reception today
for their efforts to combat the foreclosure epidemic with a $150,000 grant ($50,000 per year for three
years) to Cuyahoga County’s Foreclosure Prevention Program. The reception, held this morning, was
attended by County Treasurer Jim Rokakis, program staff, representatives of non-profit counseling
agencies and area business leaders.
During the event, County Treasurer Jim Rokakis explained that, “We are grateful for Safeguard’s
commitment to the region and for their understanding of the critical role foreclosure prevention plays in
protecting our neighborhoods and communities.” He continued, “This grant comes at an important time
for all of us and will go a long way towards helping to protect at-risk homeowners from foreclosure.”
With many experts predicting that the brutal impacts of the mortgage meltdown will continue for several
years, the additional funding is a welcome boost to the program that has played a critical role in helping
to combat the tide of impending foreclosures. Since its inception, the program, in partnership with
United Way’s First Call for Help hotline, has assisted nearly 10,000 homeowners and directly prevented
over 2,100 foreclosures.
According to Safeguard CEO Robert Klein, “Cuyahoga County is our home, where we live and raise
families. As a business, we see first-hand the devastation that results from foreclosures -- to families,
neighborhoods and communities here and across the country. It's in all of our interests to work together
to prevent home foreclosures, and Safeguard is honored to participate in this initiative.”
