Safeguard Properties 5th Annual Vendor Conference to address challenges of maintaining vacant, abandoned and foreclosed homes-- 600 attendees expected to make conference the largest ever Cleveland, Ohio – August 20, 2008 – Safeguard Properties will hold its 5th Annual Vendor Conference in Cleveland on August 24-26, gathering hundreds of property inspection and preservation contractors, mortgage servicing representatives, officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Veterans Administration (VA), as well as code enforcement, community development and other community representatives to address the challenges of maintaining vacant, abandoned and foreclosed homes. The three-day conference at the Renaissance Hotel will highlight the state of the industry, best practices and new initiatives to protect properties. Also featured will be new processes to improve the marketability of foreclosed homes to make them more attractive to family homeowners instead of quick-profit investors (“flippers”). Keynote speaker for the conference will be Fannie Mae Vice President Rob Caire. “With foreclosures increasing across the country, and properties remaining vacant for longer periods of time, it’s more important than ever to assure that the properties we manage for our clients do not become eyesores or nuisances to their neighborhoods and their communities,” said Robert Klein, CEO of Safeguard. Safeguard is the largest mortgage field services company in the U.S., conducting approximately 800,000 property inspections and maintenance orders per month on defaulted, vacant and foreclosed properties across the country. The company employs 500 people, plus a network of approximately 6,000 contractors nationally.
