Montclair CA VPR Ordinance Reporting Requirements
Monday, 29 December 2008

The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin recently profiled initiatives to be undertaken by the City of Montclair CA in 2009. Included among the initiatives is a new abandoned and vacant property registration and maintenance ordinance with a unique (additional) reporting requirement.

City cautious about prospects for 2009

A major focus of 2009 will be how to handle homes that are foreclosed in the city, said City Manager Lee McDougal.

On Dec. 15, council members were presented with an preliminary approval relating to abandoned and vacant property registration and maintenance.

The proposed ordinance will require the owner to perform monthly inspections and submit monthly reports to the city describing the results of the inspection and any corrective actions taken. Failure by the responsible party can result in the party being guilty of a misdemeanor.

"We are doing what it takes to make sure those homes are being maintained," Eaton said.
