The City of San Bruno's (CA) Vacant Property Registration Ordinance will go into effect January 10, 2009. Following extensive discussion between City Attorney Pamela Thompson, and representatives of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) VPR Committee the final version includes language incorporating the "MERS Initiative".

Chapter 5.26, Section 5.26.030 Section C provides two registration methods;

• ........completing and returning to the Community Development Dept. a City provided registration form; or
• ........registering with a City-approved national data-base that contains the information set forth herein and which service the City may access at no cost............
