A recent Fannie Mae press release explains changes to FNMA's natural disaster policy to extend additional aid to Florida homeowners affected by the recent hurricanes. The change allows mortgage servicer to quickly release up to $20,000 in insurance funds to borrowers who have a contractor's estimate, have a good payment record, and are current on their loan.
