Included below are links to several news releases pertaining to the hurricane disasters: Several counties and parishes in the hurricane areas are "flagging" properties to warn home owners about safety concerns and structural damages. Inspections in Hancock County, MS. St. Bernard Parish issued a release to home owners whose homes were affected by the Murphy Oil Spill. Murphy Oil Leak The City of New Orleans has doubled the number of
city inspectors. Inspections are underway to determine extent
of damages and if the property needs repairs. New Orleans residents returning to homes
flooded by the hurricanes must have their homes inspected by a
licensed electrician before power can be
restored. CNN featured a report on the future of New Orleans, including is
a quote from Mayor Ray Nagin regarding rumors of mass
demolitions. The Sun Herald news has published an article alerting the public
to potential court delays in Jackson County, MS due to
damages caused by Hurricane Katrina. This may be indicative of
issues that could arise in other areas as well. The Texas Division of Emergency Management releases a daily
update on their actions regarding Hurricane Katrina. Included on
the daily update is a damage assessment. Even though the
assessments are not broken down by zip code it does provide some
indication about the severity of damages in specific
