On November 2nd 2005 the Cleveland Plain Dealer ran a report on a proposal introduced at the October 31st City Council Meeting. If passed, this law would require mortgage holders to register with the city when they file for foreclosure and to provide names, addresses and phone numbers of who will maintain the properties once they are vacated. The city would charge a $60 fee, and notification would be required within 10 days of filing for foreclosure in court. Failure to comply would be a fourth-degree misdemeanor. This legislation sponsored by Mayor Jane Campbell and Councilman Zack Reed is another step in the mayor's "zero blight initiative". For the full report please click on the following link |
