Hurricane Katrina Environmentally Affected Areas in Louisiana

As previously reported at the end of September (click here) there are areas that were severely impacted, environmentally, as a result of the Murphy Oil spill and severe flooding.

The areas that have been reported to have suffered significant damage include Chalmette (70043, 70044) and Meraux (70075) Louisiana due to the Murphy Oil Inc. oil spill.

In addition, the Ninth Ward of New Orleans remained underwater for the longest periods as it re-flooded when Hurricane Rita hit. This zip code (primarily 70117) undoubtedly resulted in extensive mold in the remaining structures.
