Weatherhead 100 Centurion Winner Press Release
Wednesday, 14 December 2005

Safeguard Properties Named
Weatherhead 100 Centurion Winner for 2nd Consecutive Year
Also recognized as Weatherhead 100 Winner for 10th year in a row

Brooklyn Heights, OH – December 14, 2005 – Safeguard Properties , has won the prestigious 2005 Weatherhead 100 award for the 10th consecutive year. Safeguard was also named as a recipient of the Weatherhead 100 Centurion award for the second year in a row. Presented by the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, the Weatherhead 100 showcases the fastest growing companies in Northeast Ohio.
The Weatherhead 100 award identifies and honors the 100 fastest growing companies based on sales from 2000 through 2004.  Companies must have sales over $100,000 in 2000 and over $1 million in 2004.  The Weatherhead 100 Centurion award acknowledges companies achieving 100 percent or more sales growth from 2000 through 2004 and net sales of $100 million or more in 2004. Safeguard ranked fourth on the Centurion list, which honored nine companies for their success.

Founded as a two-person office in 1990 by Robert Klein, Safeguard has exploded into the largest privately held mortgage field services company in the nation, achieving the Weatherhead 100 recognition within the first five years of operation (in 1996) and then every consecutive year since. Noting the reasons for the company’s success, President and CEO Robert Klein commented, “We back our doctrine of ‘Customer Service equals Resolution’ not only with a strong work ethic, but with intense communication and awareness of industry changes such as FEMA updates and investor guidelines. These efforts are further enhanced by our dedication to next-generation technology, which enables us to service our clients in a proactive rather than reactive capacity.”

In addition to Safeguard’s business principles, Klein is dedicated to philanthropic efforts, and most recently made a $500,000 donation to disabled victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Acknowledging the Weatherhead recognition, Klein expressed his appreciation and respect for the organization, “We’re honored to be among this elite group and would like to thank our staff, clients and vendors for their roles as partners in our growth,” said Klein. “Without their continued support, this honor would not be possible. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Weatherhead School of Management for undertaking this effort since 1987. The awards promote the spirit of entrepreneurialism.”
