The "Change a Light, Change the World" campaign is being launched nationwide to promote energy conservation and awareness across the country. Partnerships for Home Energy Efficiency, comprised of HUD, the EPA, and the Department of Energy, is beginning the annual Energy Star "Change a Light, Change the World" campaign on Oct. 4, 2006. The partnership utilizes the campaign to promote energy conservation and encourages every U.S. Governor to issue proclamations declaring Oct. 4 "Energy Star Change a Light Day." Citizens nationwide are urged to do their part by replacing at least one bulb or fixture in their home or office with a bulb or fixture that has earned the government's Energy Star label. Individuals and organizations may also pledge a donation to demonstrate their commitment to supporting and promoting energy efficiency. Pledges can be made directly on the campaign website at http://www.energystar.gov/changealight. The campaign will continue through October and November, making a difference one light at a time, for a brighter future. |
