Severe Weather Alert New York Emergency Declaration Lake Effect Snowstorm

An emergency declaration has been declared for four (4) counties in New York State due to a recent severe snow storm.

The four declared counties are Erie, Genesee, Niagara, and Orleans.

Please note as of October 18th, this area had NOT yet been declared a Presidential Disaster Area. Assesments are ongoing and a declaration may be forthcoming.

Initial reports from the field have identified some areas that have been severely impacted. Reported damages include  trees down, telephone lines down, utility lines down, large sections of roofing materials missing, broken windows, sections of siding missing, and extensive debris (mostly fallen trees), flooded basements, collapsed carports or decks and damaged patios.
